Review and Swatches: Colorburst Lip Butters by REVLON ♥

New REVLON Colorburst Lip Butters are a different take on just an average lipstick because they are mixture between a lip balm and a lipstick. Although this may not be a completely new concept these new Colorburst Lip Butters are truly amazing and are pretty much the best lip products out there today that gives an obvious colour as well as moisturizing your lips.

There is definitely a shade for everyone! They come in 20 different beautiful colours and they all have a somewhat to really glossy finish. They are not as opaque as lipstick but personally I prefer that for every day wear. Another great thing about these is that because they still have a translucent element to them they can help you step out of your comfort zone and wear bolder shades like red or magenta.

I bought 10 different colours:

I have a medium coloured skin tone and I pretty much wear a nude lip everyday so my favourite Colorburst Lip Butters are “Crème Brulee” with “Brown Sugar” layered on top, these two colours paired together give me a nice “non-dead” nude colour. The nude look achieved with these two colours will also look amazing on basically any skin tone. If you have lighter skin you would add more of the “Crème Brulee” and if you are darker you would add more of the “Brown Sugar”. It says they can be worn on top of a lip liner or without a lip liner, I personally just wear them on their own and they look awesome.

All the Colorburst Lip Butters are pretty long lasting but none of them last as long lasting as a lipstick so you will need to do a couple touch ups during the day. You will definitely have to touch up your lips after meals or drinks like any other lip balm.

they come fully sealed with a
strong sticker on the side
These are different from most lip balms or lip butters because they are not a sheer coat of colour, the majority of these Colorburst Lip Butters are really pigmented and they are pretty much true to the colour of the packaging. I love that they come completely sealed, which just takes the stress off having to inspect it like I have to for many drugstore product. The packaging itself is the same as the Colourbust lipsticks but the colour of each lid depends on the colour of the lip butter. They also have clear plastic on the top so you can see the actual product itself if you don’t have a tester available.

Something I don’t like about these Colorburst Lip Butters is that because they are so creamy they tend to deform fast, and they also lightly smear on the inside of the barrel. Another thing that I don’t like is that the pigmentation is inconsistent. The darker colours are more pigmented then the lighter colours. The lighter colours only show up nicely on paler lips, which is a bummer because I don’t have pale lips and all the lighter colours are so pretty.

All the Colorburst Lip Butters glide on the lips really smoothly and they are one of my favourite drugstore products. I highly recommend them because they are very moisturizing and hydrating like they claim. They are very easy to take off even with just a tissue and for the most part they don’t stain your lips.

In Canada they are available at stores like Wal-Mart, Zellers and most common drugstores (at Shoppers Drugmart they retail for around $10.99 each). Right now they are a very popular product so they may be sold out in many stores but fortunately they are a permanent item from REVLON so if you can’t find them now you will definitely be able to get your hands on them soon enough.

Review: “Orgasm” blush by NARS ♥

"Orgasm" blush by NARS, $27
Hey Everyone!

Today I’m going to do a review on a cult favourite makeup product, “Orgams” blush by NARS. You either really love this or you think it’s just “meh”. Personally I LOVE this blush and feel it’s definitely a staple in every makeup junkie’s collection. The blush is $27 plus tax (tax amount depends on where you live) and can be purchased at Sephora.

It’s a pink blush, with peachy undertones and has gold shimmers in it. It is a beautiful blush and looks great on every skin tone. When directly looking at it you can see the gold flecks of glitter but it is very finely milled so when applied the gold glitter doesn’t actually show up as prominent chunky glitter on the face.

One down side of this blush would be that it may not show up as well on darker skin tones. It works best as a blush on fairer skin but it will make a great highlight or shimmer powder on darker skin tones.

The lasting power of this blush is REALLY long, you barley have to re-apply it. On an average day, it lasts about 5 hours effortlessly and by the end of a long day you still have a soft glow remaining on your cheeks.
Colour wise personally I would say it’s not that pigmented, it gives off a pretty sheer colour payoff. But it is pigmented in the sense that just a swipe of this blush will get you a nice healthy glow on your cheeks. When it is swatched on a finger it may not look like the best blush but when applied to the face it looks like a nice natural flush of colour.

It is perfect for everyday wear and because you don’t need a lot the product wont run out soon (size: 0.16 oz). It is totally buildable, and can be taken from day to night depending on how heavy your hand is when applying it.
Like all NARS blushes, “Orgasm” blush has a really nice consistency. It is very easy to apply and blend. It gives your face a nice smooth feeling and look similar to the texture MAC studio finish powder gives your face.

fingerprints and glitter

The packaging is classic “NARS” packaging. The blush has a rubberish feel, it is a compact blush and it probably will fit into any makeup bag. The blush has a pretty big mirror that covers the whole inside part of the lid and comes with a plastic sheet on the inside that says “NARS” to protect the blush. Although the packaging is very sleek, the rubbery casing on it gets dirty really fast and picks up finger prints really easily. It can easily be cleaned however it is a little frustrating to have to frequently wipe off all the glitter and finger prints on it.

"Super Orgasm" blush by NARS, $27

Similar to “Orgasm” blush, NARS’ “Super Orgasm” is also a shimmery peachy pink blush with golden flecks of glitter. “Super Orgasm” has more colour pigmentation and has a larger size of gold glitters, making the gold a little bit more noticeable. “Orgasm” is more wearable but “Super Orgasm” has that extra oomph.

“Orgasm” blush is NARS’ top selling blush and is known to be the most famous and most universal bush. It is a great colour to add to the collection and is defiantly a makeup staple.

always remember to stay fabulous
