DIY: Natural Hair Mask for Damaged, Over Worked, Broken Hair ♥

Coconut Oil

Hey guys,
Are you tired of dry, broken and over worked hair? Well here’s a natural hair mask that revitalizes your dehydrated hair. This remedy takes your hair from dry and dead to shiny and bouncy. The best part of all is that it’s a natural recipe that only requires two ingredients:
  • Coconut Oil (unrefined is better)
  • 1 Egg

An egg is a natural conditioner and cleanser and is excellent for dry and damaged hair. Eating eggs promote healthy hair and nails because of their high sulphur content and wide array of vitamins and minerals.

Coconut Oil is an excellent conditioner and helps in the re-growth of damaged hair. It also provides the essential proteins required for nourishing damaged hair. The molecules in coconut oil are actually small enough to fit into our hair shaft. It is one of the few oils that can actually penetrate our hair.

Eggs
The first thing you have to do is melt a few tablespoons of the coconut oil down (the amount depends on how much hair you have) into liquid form. Make sure the oil isn’t too hot, but it isn’t too cold, the oil must be warm. Then go ahead and crack an egg into the warm liquid coconut oil and whisk it into the oil with a fork. Do not over whisk because you will lose heat. After the egg and the oil are incorporated, divide your hair of into sections. Lay a towel around your shoulders because you will have some spillage. Drench the sections of hair with the treatment, focus on the ends especially don’t forget to massage it into your scalp. Once your hair is completely saturated with the mixture put your hair into a bun and then take a plastic bag and secure it around your hair, doing this will lock in the heat and to stop your hair from accidentally touching things around you. Let it sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour and then finally wash your hair as usual. Don’t forget to condition :)

Stay Fabulous!

Do It Yourself: Makeup Brush Holders ♥

Hey Everyone!
If you’re like me you have a lot of makeup brushes but have no idea where to put them! I have seen some good quality makeup brush holders for sale at places like Sephora or at websites like http://www.shopglitzyglam.com/index.php/brush-holders/make-up-brush-holders.html, but the thing is I just can’t afford to buy like 10 of them, so I decided to made my own customized makeup brush holder. This is a fun, cheap and a cute way to organize and store your makeup brushes. Each brush holder can range in price of just $4 to $15, depending on what you choose to decorate them with.

Customized brush holders are a great home made and thoughtful present for any girl. They can also be used for different purposes, instead of holding makeup brushes you can use them to hold decorative fake flowers or even your miscellaneous pens.

All you need is a glass vase, acrylic vase filler beads, and decorations.
  1. If you want you can first wash and dry your vase and filler beads, just to be extra sanitary (make sure everything is COMPLETELY dry).
  2. Next take decorations and put them on the outside of the vase using clear glue. Adding a vinyl letter and polka dots can look really good (you don't need to add glue to the back of the vinyl, it sticks on to glass). The best decorations for this project are ones that had adhesive already on them.

Basic Glass Vase from Dollarama- $2

Vinyl Letter "N" and Vinyl Polka Dots from eBay-

Acrylic Clear Vase Filler Beads from Dollarama-

Self Adhesive Rhinestone Strips from Dollarama-

Close Up on the Self Adhesive Rhinestone Strips
adding a border around the rim makes it look more professional

Finished Makeup Brush Holder

you can customize your Makeup Brush Holder even more
by overlapping different sizes of Polka Dots
Makeup Brush Holders can also make a plain boring table top more fun and pretty

have fun making these brush holders and Stay Fabulous!

How to Take a Fall Dress into a Winter Outfit ♥

Hey Everyone!

During the fall sweater dress are staple to any girl’s wardrobe, but then came winter. Here’s different ways you can add other items to still continue to wear all your cute sweater dresses.
This is a fun and affordable sweater dress that I have:

Urban Planet- approximately $30
Bold colours are important for the bland colder seasons like winter 2011. Contrary to past winters this winters collections thrive in brighter colours like crimson, neon orange, purple, sky blue, teal and others and many designers capture these eye-popping tones in daring combinations.

We all saw that during the spring plunging necklines were totally in. Many brands like Gucci captured this trend, but you have to be insane to wear a plunging neckline in the winter. This dress has a boat neck, it captures a much higher neck line compared to "the plunging neck" but it also vaguely plunges.

Pattern on the Stocking,

Black Levi's Skinny Jeans-
approximately $68
Another huge trend for this year is pattern on pattern. A lot of people consider this a huge fashion faux pas so if you’re not bold enough to rock this, you can certainly incorporate this trend minimally. Pairing a great pair of thick opaque knit black stockings can keep this outfit looking sleek and it also adds a little bit more pizazz to the whole look, and besides nothing screams winter like knit. If you are not feeling the stockings you can always wear a dark washed pair of jeans. Staying on the darker side for your jean wash will help tone down bright pieces and keep everything looking chic. You can even tuck the dress into the jeans for a 70's inspired look.

Belts can be a huge accessory to add to any outfit. There are many choices you can go with, skinny belts, thick belts, black belts, brown belts, blah blah blah. The great thing about belts are they can be utilized for your benefit, pairing a thicker belt with a tighter dress like this is advisable to really hide those extra pounds and synch in your waist, its like magic. You can also use different scarfs to spice up your outfit, they can protect your neck or head from cold winds but they are also super stylish. Here are two different scarfs that look great with this dress.
Lastly no outfit is complete without accessories. I would pair vintage-ecse jewelry with this sweater dress because of the browns and copper orange colours in the dress:

Copper Orange Scarf- approximately $20,
Belt from Costa Blanca- approximately $7
Teal Scarf- approximately $15,
Black Stocking- from PayLess approximately $9

Copper/ Orange Watch- was a present- approximately $20
Teal Bracelet from eBay- approximately $10

How to Easily Remove Glitter Nail Polish ♥

Teenage Dream by OPI
Glitter nail polish is great to wear on its own or to jazz up any nail art look. I love glitter nail polish in fact out of all the nail polishes I own two of my favourite nail polishes are definitely “One Less Lonely Glitter” and “Teenage Dream” by OPI. But everyone and anyone who wears glitter nail polish knows that it’s a complete pain to take off! So here’s a fast and easy way to remove it with only minimum effort : )

All you need is:
  • Tape (or foil)
  • Cotton balls
  • And obviously nail polish remover

  1. Pre rip about five pieces of tape big enough to wrap around your finger
  2. Dip one cotton ball in nail polish remover and place it on your nail
  3. Take a piece of tape and secure the cotton ball on your nail (if you don’t want to use tape, you can just use aluminium foil, wrap your fingers with the foil to secure the cotton ball on the nail)
  4. Do this to your whole hand
  5. Wait about 5 minutes and then remove the cotton balls off your nails, making sure to slide off  all the cotton balls while pressing lightly on your nail to ensure all the glitter nail polish comes off
  6. Your nails should be completely clean, if they’re not just use one of the cotton balls that is soaked with nail polish to remove whatever is left on your nail
  7. One Less Lonely Glitter by OPI
  8. Now repeat this on your other hand, I suggest doing one hand at a time (personally i think its more convenient)
  9. Once your done removing all your nail polish make sure to wash you hands. This will clean the nail polish remover and spare glitter pieces on the rest of your hand that are still hanging on :P

Stay Fabulous!

Heatless Curls ♥

Hi everyone!

All my curly haired girls, I feel ya

I LOVE CURLY HAIR and I naturally have curly hair but there are many issues I encounter with my hair that I notice a lot of other girls out there notice as well. Unlike straight hair anybody who has curly hair knows you don't want it to be brushed out because it becomes a never ending tangle and sometimes when you don’t brush it out, it becomes a never ending tangle as well… can someone say LOOSE, LOOSE. Curly hair can also be deceiving, it looks so perfect when it’s partially wet and then when it’s completely dry, it just becomes a big chaos on your head. And the ABSOLUTE worst part of it all is the often time you take a shower you notice that your curls don’t even form nicely and you’re left with no curls but plain messy waves composed of frizz and uncooperation.

LOL:

I can go on forever about all the problems I have with curly hair but I have a solution to win the war between you and your hair.

There are many ways you can get nice wholesome curls. There is obviously the option of just curling it. Some girls unfortunately have SUPER strong natural curls and they have to straighten their hair before they curl it. But this involves A LOT OF HEAT that can be damaging and detrimental to your hair. But there is an old saying that goes something like this “no pain to gain”, so damaging aside another downfall to curling your hair is that its time consuming, I’m always so enthusiastic when I begin to curl my hair, but by time I’ve done half I start getting bored! And when I finally reach the end of it I’m just really bored!

I was scrolling YouTube when I came across a video by the beautiful AndreasChoice, the video showed a technique to get the perfect curls without any heat… when I thought to myself I do this ALL THE TIME!
So anyways here’s a tip on how to get beautiful perfect curls in your hair, WITH NO HEAT, this also works on straight hair of course

So here goes:
how to section our head
  1. Frist you want to wash your hair and follow the procedure you normally would.
  2. Next you want to towel try your hair as straight as possible with downwards pulling motions. (or you could cheat and use a blow dryer)
  3. You want to then divide your hair into two sections (you may need four parts if your hair is really thick)
  4. Then all you do is divide each part in half and twist the two half together (  First in half vertically   And for thick hair, you can also split it in half diagonally)
  5. Pin it securely using bobby pins so it doesn’t undo!
  6. And that’s it go to sleep (or just keep it in for about 5 hours, the more time the better)
  7. Once the time has passed, take out all the bobby pins and VOILA you have beautiful curls
  8. This part is optional, but if you can’t stand frizz or just want a more sleeker look use some kind of hair curling serum and just smooth it through your hair
  9. You can also twist a couple pieces together and make it looker even cleaner.
  10. Hair spray for that extra hold

Here’s the final look:

Nails Of The Day: ELF "Mod Mauve" ♥

Hey guys,
i just finished painting my nails with ELF's "Mod Mauve" colour and its gorgeous!
but compared to the picture they have on the website, the nail polish looks totally different in real life... but i still love the colour

this is what the nail polish looks like in real life

this is the picture that is posted on their website

i bought this colour a while ago, but im actually using it for the first time today
mauve is defiantly a really trendy fall colour and because this is like a deep/ brownish purple it goes well with the season
its not a bold colour so its pair-able with basically an outfit, the nail polish takes about 10-15 minutes to COMPLETELY dry and the consistency is a TINY TINY TINY TINY bit runnier that what i like
i love ELF nail polishes because they are fairy long lasting and they are SUPER cheap, definitely add this to your bag with you next ELF order

stay fabulous!!
