Review and Swatches: Kat Von D Lolita and Lolita 2

Kat Von D Lolita and Lolita 2 Liquid Lipsticks

Hey!

So today I’m just doing a quick review on the Kat Von D Lolita Everlasting Liquid Lipstick and the Lolita 2 Everlasting Liquid Lipstick. You can get these shades at Sephora or Sephora.com for $24CAD each (before tax) for 0.22 oz. There was a special limited edition duo released for the 2015 holiday season but that sold out ridiculously fast so why are we even talking about it right now?

Now there has been a lot of controversy over the original Lolita lip stain and people were literally furious. For starters they decided to reinvent the actual Lolita colour and it was out of stock for about 8 months. Then when they finally restocked it there was a manufacturing issue and these ugly brown batches were sent out to all Sephora stores. After another 3ish months is when they finally started selling them again at which point they were sold out everywhere within a week. But all drama aside, it has been in stock for fairly a while now and you’d probably easily be able to get your hands on it. Lolita is described as a chestnut rose colour. It’s a subdued pink shade with a really good balance of brown in it, which would go with most skin tones. I absolutely love this shade and basically wear it daily. It’s the perfect everyday colour that can just plainly go with any eye look.

Lolita 2 on Lips
Lolita 2 is described as a terra cotta nude and unlike its original counterpart I definitely can’t say I’m in love with the colour. When I apply it, it’s actually pretty orange and so I don’t even really understand why it’s a nude. I mean isn’t a “nude” meant to be a shade similar to skin tone or even something’s that’s neutral? Last time I checked there were no orange skinned people. If this colour was a lot more muted but still had a really slight orange undertone it would be the perfect “terra cotta nude”, I think. But as it is now, I basically hate it… someone even asked why I was wearing orange lipstick LOL, but then again keep in mind it will look different on different skin tones.

All Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks have an amazing formula. They’re liquid to matte and they glide on so beautifully. From my experience, all the shades are opaque with 1 application so you don’t need more than a single layer. They don’t budge and they’re literally one of the best liquid lipsticks out in the market… Shout out to Make Up For Ever Aqua Rouge lip stains which I also LOVE! Liquid lipsticks in general can be dry and although the Kat Von D ones aren’t comparatively as bad as some on the market, you definitely need to make sure to exfoliate your lips and moisturize them. I don’t however recommend moisturizing right before applying these stains because they wont last as long but go ahead and moisturize an hour before and you should be fine. They last about 5-6 hours if you just drink water but for sure come off when you eat, especially if it’s oily food. And with that being said the best way to remove the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks is with an oil based makeup remover.
