Reviews and Swatches: BECCA Lowlight Sculpting Perfector ♥

Hey everyone,
BECCA Low Light Sculpting Perfector

Today I’m going to be doing a quick review on the BECCA Lowlight Sculpting Perfector. It comes in one shade, which is a medium, slightly warm brown with gray tones, and you can purchase it at Sephora for $46 (CAD) before tax.

I might as well jump right into it by saying, I pretty much hate this product… it’s like one of those people you really want to like but then just can’t convince yourself to… yes that my friend is exactly how I feel about the BECCA Lowlight Sculpting Perfector. I know you guys know what I’m talking about haha.

Here's what I liked about the BECCA Lowlight Sculpting Perfector:
  • Very easy to apply and it may be good for you if you’re new to contouring because it blends very well which prevents harsh dramatic edges.
  • Lasted 7 hours (with a primer).
  • It’s a semi-matte product so it’s good for mostly all skin types.

Here's what I didn’t like about the BECCA Lowlight Sculpting Perfector:
  • Lets start with the packaging. It is very easy to get stuff stuck in it. I’ve seriously had a hair stuck in it from the first time I used it. I don’t know why they decided to put this product into a compact. I get that compacts are good for on the go but I really doubt people would be talking a cream contour around with them… and even if they did it wouldn’t be this one because you also need a brush. The packaging would be much better if it was in stick form.
  • It’s only for fair to light-medium skin tones because it’s a very subtle product, which you definitely have to build up a lot.
  • When you apply the product on your face you end up looking dirty because of the brownish grey colour. Seriously looks like you’ve contoured with dirt.

Overall I would not recommend buying this product. Though the application and longevity of the BECCA Lowlight Sculpting Perfector is really good the colour ruins the entire final look. I mean I don’t know about you guys but I definitely don’t have time to look dirty.

Review: GHD Eclipse ♥

Hey people!
GHD Eclipse

So today I’m super excited to be reviewing the GHD Eclipse flat iron. You can buy this beautiful soul of a flat iron on http://www.ghdhair.com or at Sephora like I did for $295 CAD… I know steep!

The first time I used these I absolutely fell in love with them. I think we can all agree that GHD rules the flat iron world and this one literally trumps anything I’ve tried before. It has patented “Tri-Zone” technology that features six sensors and super-thin plates allowing the perfect heat control from root to tip. It heats up in literally less than 20 seconds and even has an automatic shut off for impatient, lazy and forgetful people... like me. :)
You can straighten or curl thicker sections at once compared to other flat irons. It’s perfect for naturally curly and frizzy hair because the plates calm and smoothen your hair even without any finishing products! The ionic plates lock in the moisture and your hair feels like a million bucks. Thinking back at all the times I’ve straightened my hair with other irons almost brings a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach because I could have avoided so much damage!
A flower on top of a piece of
aerogel suspended over a flame
from a Bunsen burner
Not only is this straightener paving the way for all modern day straighteners but also it just looks like the future. It has silver lines along the sides and the rest of it is all black including the plates (you can also get it in white)! It looks really sleek and has a light up GHD logo on the inside and on the outside, which blink when the straightener is heating up. The iron is lined with aerogel insulation ensuring that that the outer shell is cool-to-the-touch making it optimal for curling as well. Aerogel has excellent insulating properties, and a flower placed on top of it can even be protected from almost direct flame from a Bunsen burner #science. The sides of it are curved which also makes it great for curling or hair that gets easily knotted.
Silicone Guard
The GHD Eclipse also features a nine-foot swivel cord because it is a top-notch salon flat iron and this just makes it easier for hairdressers to work comfortably around their clients. It comes with a heat resistant soft silicone guard so when your done with it you can cover it and not have to worry about someone accidentally getting burnt on an open hair straightener. Another snazzy thing about this flat iron is the cool noises it makes when you turn it on and to tell you when it’s done heating up.

I’m not knocking the GHD Professional because if any of you have tried it you know it’s an amazing iron and does a wonderful job but this one literally just blew even the GHD Professional out of the water. I seriously think that I should consider applying for a job at GHD because I really can’t stop talking to people about this straightener. And I know its really pricey because ain’t nobody got $295 to drop like that and I feel your pain because of the stupid 13% tax we have in Toronto which took me up to like $330 x_x but its super worth it. If you think your straightener is amazing and it works for you defs don’t run out and get this one but when that puppy breaks the GHD Eclipse flat iron definitely should be your replacement!

Review: Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Perfume Oil ♥

Hey everyone!
Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Perfume Oil

Today I’m going to be reviewing the Elizabeth and James Nirvana Black Perfume Oil. The entire Elizabeth and James fragrance line is unisex and exclusively sold at Sephora where you can get this product along with the white version for $42 CAD.

Nirvana Black Perfume Oil
Out of both the variations I’ve always been a huge fan of the black version because it’s a bolder and more intense while still having powdery vanilla notes. Though I do love the scent of the Black Perfume Oil I have to say, like the fragrance, the staying power is really bad. Which is a huge bummer because I really do love the smell a lot! For some reason I even feel like the oil has worst staying power and is even less concentrated than the fragrance… which is weird because usually oil versions of fragrances are much stronger and longer lasting. Wearing them together does however drastically make the wear time longer. The oil holds the fragrance so it really does last all day when paired.

Other than wearing it on top of the fragrance version on my pulse points, I also love to take a couple drops and pat it in my hair. It adds a nice shine, smoothens and of course perfumes your hair!

Lastly I love to take a couple drops of this stuff and apply it before bed. I don’t know about you guys but I love to sleep with a fragrance. This oil isn’t overly aromatic like some perfumed oils can be which makes it perfect to sleep with.
…LOL I don’t know if that applied to anyone but me but I really do like to wear perfume to bed haha

Review: Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser ♥

Hey everyone!
Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Cleanser

So today I’m going to be reviewing the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser. You can buy this cleanser in Sephora stores, Ole Henriksen’s website or Sephora online for $34 (CAD) for 4oz. I love Ole Henriksen products and wanted to love this cleanser REALLY BADLY but it just doesn’t live up to the rest of the line. It’s a 3-in-1 cleanser that starts off as a gel, melts on contact into an oil to dissolve waterproof makeup and turns into a milk cleanser when you add warm water. I’ve been slowly dipping my toes into the world of cleansing oils and even out of the few products I have tried I can clearly say that this product is just a huge gimmick.

It does remove makeup really well when you massage it on your face but the problem lies in taking it off. No seriously it doesn’t come off. When you add the warm water it only slightly milks up and when you try and rinse it just stays on your face. Kind of similar to what it would be like washing a thin layer of Vaseline off your face.  I literally needed to use another cleanser to wash off the Ole Henriksen Pure Truth Melting Cleanser.

Of course a huge pro of this product, basically the only pro of this product, is that it has that amazing Ole Henriksen smell. Mmmm orange skittles.

Overall, I really wouldn’t recommend getting this product. The only time I would say you should get this awful cleanser is if you have dehydrated skin and you’re looking for a good makeup remover. The virgin cherry oil in it did leave my face pretty soft. But like I said before you do have to use a cleanser afterwards.

Avocados 101 and DIY Avocado Hair and Face Masks ♥

Hey everyone!!

Today I’m going to be explaining the benefits of a super underrated beauty secret and give you some at home easy-to-do moisturizing masks.

As well as being extremely delicious, avocados are also amazing for your vanity… now that’s a win-win! They have high nutritional value and anyone and everyone who eats them regularly knows that they give your skin healthy natural glow.

One avocado contains over 20 vitamins and minerals, and you can literally get your daily supply of fiber, vitamin E and B vitamins in just one fruit. It also contains potassium and is a great source of fiber and folic acid, which is critical for any woman.

Now I know what you are thinking, so I’m just going to say it…yes, avocados are high in fat. An avocado can have about 21 grams, which in turn means about 230 calories each, and of course this depends on the size. But if you think about it, no one really eats a whole avocado and considering that half a chocolate-chip muffin is 400+ calories, even if they did eat a whole one it would still be far less calories that most other snack.

The oil from avocados are used in many beauty products worldwide because of their ability to enhance the skin and the hair. Here are a few recipes that you can try at home:

Avocado and Oatmeal Face-Mask

This is a great face-mask for people with dry skin. I promise, regular use of this at-home remedy will do wonders for your face! Also don’t feel limed to just the face, apply it on your hands, arms, legs, anywhere really, as a natural moisturizer.
